2021, Manifestation

Each new year comes with a clean slate and a fresh start. It's a good time to re-evaluate where you are at and how that checks up with where you would like to go.

Each year builds on one another. I like to pick a mantra for each year that will help me grow more into the person I would like to become.

My annual mantra solidified in 2014 with The Year of Confidence. That was a great year for me where I realized my goal of qualifying for NCAA's outdoor, then went to study abroad in Spain for the summer. I like to think things really came together for me that year based on a good mentality, focus, and consistent hard work. I also believe that year I had a mature shift in perspective on life as my mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Watching her battle through the most difficult fight for her life, then to come out on top was very inspiring and made it very easy to determine what was most important to me in life.

Over the years, I have had more or less of a clear purpose for each year. All with good intentions, but lacking the best execution. Flashback to what I have written in my blogs over the years for my mottos of each year:

2017-2020: N/A

2020 has seen the best and worst of me, to be completely honest. Last year I got lost in placing so much pressure on myself and getting lost in the results. In doing so, I lost sight of the process and was filled with so much anxiety about performance that I didn't enjoy what I was doing as much. This was a difficult growth process to go through, and I did become better for it.

At my lowest points, I had to come to a decision to either work to get better and enjoy pole vaulting more, or to quit for my own sanity and for those around me. I chose not to give up because I would be disappointed in not giving my best shot to realizing my full potential. I found that I do enjoy pole vaulting and believe there is more inside of me that I would like to see come to life.

Although it has had its ups and downs, it has made me stronger.

In 2020 I learned a few valuable lessons and made the following positive life changes:

I stopped letting my fears have power over my actions

I gained confidence in my physical and mental strengths

I chose to chase my dreams and give my best effort in every opportunity I am given

I believe that 2021 will be the year that my actions speak louder than my words. All of the years of training will come together beautifully, as I have learned the art of mastering my mind. 2021 will be the year of manifestation! All of the training I have completed this point will culminate as I continue to improve my mentality and spiritual component to inherent self-belief.

There are many different ‘definitions’ of the word manifest, but the simplest would be that a manifestation is ‘something that is put into your physical reality through thought, feelings, and beliefs'.

This means that whatever you focus on is what you are bringing into your reality. You may focus and manifest through meditation, visualization or just via your conscious or subconscious.

This process is called manifesting!
