We made it through Week 3! Woohoo!
I felt a little more sluggish than usual this week, but that was to be expected for this time in our training cycle. That was not the case so much last week. I have never before in my life ran a 300m, but last Friday we ran a time trial for which Scott predicted I would run about a 43:00, which I thought would be pretty difficult. Turns out, I ran a 43:20, which is pretty darn close. Not going to lie, I was more nervous for this than a regular pole vault competition because I had no idea what to expect for this challenge! I thought there would be some major booty lock coming down the last stretch, but it was not as bad as I thought! Speed endurance is getting there.
I'm still keeping score on my progress in training. It matters! It also helps keep the motivation alive, while focusing on doing things right. Competing with myself and building strength each week with a positive mentality is surely going to keep me on track to achieving my goals.
That being said, Week 3 consisted of the following wins:
Increased both max sets of pull-ups to 14, followed by 13 (last week was 12, 12)
Went up to 125 lbs in cleans x4 reps (focusing on slow down, quick up through full hip extension)
Went up to 125 lbs in front squat x5 reps (last week was 115 and the most I did last year was 145 x4 in November)
Despite feeling a little tired, I am healthy, happy, and positive :)
Last thought I want to close on - I recently read a quote talking about the power of taking ownership. Producers are people who get things done. They are successful because they take matters into their own hands 100% with no excuses.
"If it is to be, then it is up to me."
I am taking this to heart, because the truth is that no one else is going to get you to where you want to go. It's in our hands to make it happen. Let's have a great week 4!
