Why I am thankful for pole vault

Can we all agree that life has its ups and downs? Life gets hard at times. People get in our ears, saying things we don't like or agree with. Sometimes people let us down. Other times, people wildly impress us and open our eyes and minds to things we could not see. Those people inspire us to see the beauty beyond where we are.

Talking to such people have most recently given me a deeper sense of gratitude for what I do have.

It makes me think about who I am, where I am, and what I am doing today. Being happy is a result of having purpose, community, and passion. I could be suffering with so many things, but instead I have so much to be grateful for...

I can walk. I have a roof over my head. I have access to food and water. I have people who love me. I enjoy how I spend my time.

That's where I am so thankful that I have pole vault. Pole vault is something I am so grateful for on many levels. Here’s a starting list as to why:

It challenges me, gives me something to work towards, and helps me find new ways to grow.

It reminds me of everything I have overcome.

It continually teaches me discipline, focus, and courage.

This sport has shaped my life and led me to meet so many incredible people.

When I take a step back and look at where I am and what I am doing, I am proud and thankful. I am not the best in the world, but I am chasing my potential. I have purpose and community through this passion.

I have Scott :)

And he has hairy legs, not me.
